Managing Stage Nerves

For some students, this is one of the first times, that they have been on stage. For others, they’ve been on stage many times before. Either way this comes with a lot of excitement and some nerves.

First and foremost, the experience of participating in an End of Year Concert is about enjoyment and community. Like everything we do at the studio, we strive to create a calm and nurturing environment around performance.

It is a really important part of any childs development that they have the experience of working hard towards something and then being able to show and celebrate their hard work. The art of stage performance translates into many critical life skills, such as presenting, interviewing, public speaking, teaching and managing.

We like to emphasise to students that it is okay to feel nervous. They are doing a big, exciting thing and that goes hand in hand with nerves. It is important to experience feeling nervous about something and doing it anyway, knowing that they are safe and that nothing bad will happen.

We look forward to celebrating this milestone with our students and families!
